The concept: rejecting the idea of waste

Fifth Element stems from a concept devised by Arnaldo Zanelli, who - after beginning his career as the manager of a storage depot for scrap metal - at the end of the 1990s decided to try to restructure the company according to the new problems and regulations affecting the waste industry. Indeed, it was during this period that new regulations on the treatment, storage, disposal and recycling of treated materials came into effect. The consequence of this was that industrial waste became
a precious commodity capable of creating new life and new production processes. No longer was it waste, but resources treated with a willingness and commitment to unearth new applications for the materials, reduce the quantity of waste destined for landfills and create a substantial benefit for the environment.
